how'd u get to march in teh parade? and tell your mom i said happy birthdaykurt culler wrote:I marched in a Labor Day parade today with my whole family. We were passing out candy and American flags to kids as we went along. It was only about 25 minutes for us to march through and then we went to Olga's for lunch. Today is my mom's birthday and next week is my niece's , so we celebrated both and then went to my parents' house to play cards and bocce ball.
She turned 67 and my niece will be 11 next Monday. We all had a pretty good time.fluffy wrote:What a fun day! Happy Birthday to your mom! How old is she today?
It sounds like she had quite a nice birthday!
Tommy, we marched in the parade because my mom is a member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) which is a group of women who are descendants of Revolutionary War veterans. We are descended from at least two R.W. veterans. Local members of DAR and their families march in the parade every year and we've done it the last two years.
We had the rain from hell yesterday and my two loft rooms off the 2nd floor patio flooded. It wasn't a disaster or anything because the floors are tile and wash or wear more or less. It made me think of the hurricane people though and I'll never understand why more people didn't leave ahead of time.
Anyway, today is sunny and beautiful...oh yea, my shop flooded too but there wasn't any permanent damage.
